About SPHS

Suncoast Polytechnical High School is Sarasota, Florida's newest high school. Located on the Sarasota County Technical Institute's campus, the high school is the anchor for a complete renewal of Sarasota County's approach to technical education. SPHS is a magnet high school which opened with a freshman class of 150 students in the fall of 2008. SPHS will reach its full capacity of 600 students in August, 2011. Our first class of seniors will graduate in May, 2012.
Students at SPHS work in a high tech environment. They choose from many technical degrees, including Gaming and Animation, Project Lead the Way, and Computer Programming. At SPHS we are preparing students for the 21st Century workplace. After graduating, our students will have skills demanded by employers. They will have the option of entering college, seeking further post-secondary education, or entering the world of work as successful employes in today's high tech industries.
